SHIKAR
Entertainment Troupe
Shikar group with Nizam VI
1892

Today the mention of a hunt is taboo but in the 19th century shikar or a hunting expedition was a must in the itinerary of any dignitary coming to India on a state visit. Elaborate overnight hunting expeditions were organized.
Tigers were shot & trophies adorned palaces. Small wonder that the fauna had to be saved and protected consciously in the 20th century.
